The Embassy of Pakistan in Amman organized a cricket tournament on the occasion of Defense Day of Pakistan. Three teams from Amman, Sahab and Zarqa participated in the tournament.
The opening match of the tournament was played between Pakistan Cricket Club Amman’PCC’ XI and Zarqa cricket team ‘ZCC’ XI. Playing first ‘ZCC’ scored 127 runs in alloted 10 overs. Ziauddin scored 75, whereas Zuhaid scored 25. From PCC XI, Adnan Bashir and Majid Rana took a wicket each. In response, PCC XI acheieved the score in 8.4 overs. From PCC XI, Shakir scored 75 runs; whereas, from ZCC XI, Ziauddin took 2 wickets for 23 runs.
The second thrilling match of the tournament was played between ZCC XI and Sahab Cricket Team ‘SCC’ XI. Playing first, SCC XI scored 146 runs in their alloted 10 overs. Nawaz top scored with 47 runs while Zia Ur Rehman scored 24 runs. In response, SCC XI achieved the score in 9.3 overs. Rashid top scored with 64 whereas, Ashoq scored 18 runs.
With two consective defeats in the two matches played, ZCC XI was eliminted and the final was played between PCC XI and SCC XI. In the final match, playing first SCC XI scored 129 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their alloted 12 overs. Shahid top scored with 33 runs while Majid scored 24. From PCC XI Shakir took 2 wickets while Adnan took 1. Majid Rana also bowled particularly well giving away an economy rate of just 3.5 in his 2 overs. In response, PCC XI required 6 runs of the last ball of the match and M. Salah stood up to the occasion, hitting a huge six to the long-on region. From PCC XI, Adnan top scored with 78 runs while Asim Khan scored 16. PCC XI won the final match by 3 wickets and clinched the winner up trophy.
