A 15-member businessmen delegation from Amman Chamber of Commerce & ‘Textile & Ready-Made Clothes’ Syndicate visited Karachi, Pakistan to participate in the first-ever, textile-sector specific exhibition named ‘TEXPO’ organized by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) from 6th to 10th April, 2016. The Jordanian delegation was led by Mr. Marwan Ghaith, Board Member from Amman Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Sultan Allan, President of ‘Textile & Ready-Made Clothes’ Syndicate.
Pakistan is 4th largest cotton producer and 2nd largest cotton-yarn exporter in the world. It is also 3rd largest manufacturer and exporter of cotton cloth and has a large number of textile and clothing value chains. The visit provided the Jordanian businessmen a first-hand experience of this dynamic textile sector of Pakistan as many major exporters of textile products from all over Pakistan were present in the exhibition. As per Mr. Sultan Allan, President of ‘Textile & Ready-Made Clothes’ Syndicate, the Jordanian businessmen were very impressed with the quality and prices of the textile products in the exhibition and it was beyond their expectations. He also mentioned that all these businessmen are large importers of textile products from China, Turkey, Egypt, South Korea and India and this is the first-time that they got the opportunity to explore this dynamic market in Pakistan.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Jordanian delegation held useful meetings with heads of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FPCCI), Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry besides numerous meetings with businessmen. The delegation also witness the fashion shows organized by the ‘Fashion Design Forum’ of Pakistan and was hosted along-with businessmen delegations from all over the world on a dinner at Governor House, Karachi.
This successful visit of Jordanian businessmen to Pakistan would open new opportunities not only in textile sector but in many other fields which Pakistan offers in agriculture products, Halal meat, leather & sports goods, pharmaceutical & Surgical products etc. Some pictures of the events are attached.
