To mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day, an event was organized by the Embassy on 5th February, 2018 under the auspices of the Jordanian Writers and Literary Union in Amman. The event was attended by key Jordanian notables, besides the Ambassador and Officers of the Mission. Mr. Omar Al Armouti, Secretary General of the Union made an introduction and conducted the proceedings. The event commenced with the National Anthems of Pakistan and Jordan.
During the event political leaders, intellectuals and social organizations’ representatives from Jordan expressed their views on Kashmir issue in the context of Kashmir Solidarity Day. Re-launch ceremony of the first book on Kashmir Issue in Arabic language authored by renowned Jordanian historian Mr Omar Nazzal Al Armouti was also held during the event.
The speakers emphasized that Jammu & Kashmir and Palestine are the two core issues of the Muslim Ummah and the resolution of both as per the UN Security Council resolutions is indispensable for global peace and stability and urged the international community to take notice of crimes against the defenseless Kashmiris and Palestinians.
Pakistan’s Ambassador H.E. Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Junaid Rehmat, in his concluding remarks, highlighted the flagrant human rights violations committed by Indian occupation forces in Jammu & Kashmir and the gruesome act of using pellet guns against Kashmiris which has caused life-long disabilities including permanent blindness. He thanked the Government and the people of Jordan for their continued support on Kashmir issue on international within Jordan and at international fora.
The event was attended by a large number of participants from different walks of life including Jordanian Senate, diplomatic community, media, think tanks, civil society, human right organizations and Pakistani community.
