Pakistan is one of the most rapidly progressing nations. A country cannot make significant economic progress until its citizens have at least basic education. Over the years it has greatly enhanced its educational system and some of Pakistan’s universities are ranked amongst the top listed ones around the world. Pakistan has over 245,578 educational institutions’ ranging from Primary schools to Universities, with over 3, 09, 04,000 students from all over the country. The educational system is based on modernization as well as keeping in touch with values and tradition. Degrees granted by Pakistani Universities are recognized around the world. After 2001, while the University Grants Commission was restructured and renamed as Higher Education Commission – HEC, the higher education in Pakistan experienced a dramatic change and progress. HEC revised previous policies to make the education system of Pakistan comparable to international standards. The commission has conceived and implemented a number of programs for development and promotion of higher education in the country.
